Rendering of a yellow giraffe slide beside a red play house and a blue faceted hill

Aili Playground is a large indoor children’s playground in Hefei, China, designed as freelance work in summer 2019. The commission covered scheme design and construction drawings. The images on this page are renderings from the design model.

Hills and snow

The plan is organised around a landscape of faceted blue and white hills, read as hills under snow. Play structures sit on and between them, including a red play house and a giraffe slide.

Colour

A white shell is set against a bold red, yellow and blue palette, used for play pieces, seating and the reception desk.
